54 Inch x 18 Inch Slabbed Slate Hearth for Solid Fuel

A slabbed slate hearth suitable for solid fuel fires. Slate is smooth to the touch and easy to maintain. Slate is a matt black stone that can be brought to a jet black by adding a little slate oil.

This slabbed hearth is specifically for solid fuel fires and stoves. Slabbing means the hearth is cut into 3 or 4 main pieces, these pieces are then glued back together and the hearth back filled with a cement and vermiculite mixture. Although the hearth comes as one complete piece there will be joints visible where the pieces have been glued back together. This process allows for the hearth to expand and contract with the heat of the fire/stove.

Please remember that slate is a natural stone and will therefore have natural marks and features in it.
