1. Can the flame be adjusted as per my existing Dream fire where the flame can be gradually adjusted or is it either high or low (nothing in between).
2. Should the fire fail to ignite (as per our exist fire) can it be lit using a taper or would I need to call out gas safe engineer.

Yes, for higher heat level slide the button upwards. The burner flames and heat
output will gradually increase until the button reaches the high heat position.
You should always call a gas safe engineer out if it doesn't light.
