We have now had fitted a Windsor HE fuel effect gas fire with glass front in a hole in the wall position. However above the fire the wall gets very hot. Pictures always show these fires without any shelf or surround. We would like this effect but are worried if we put wallpaper on the wall. How do we get the plain look. We don't want to fit a surround.

Hi there Patricia, thank you for getting in touch. My advice would be to adhere to the guidance given in the user guide with regard to distances to combustibles , and as paper is combustible this would need to be followed carefully. A shelf could well be a good idea in this instance. Please follow the advice of the manufacturer and a registered gas safe fitter when carrying out any work around this gas fire. I hope this helps?
